Human Resources Manager

Davion Inc.

 North Brunswick, NJ

Human Resources Manager

Location: New Jersey
Employment Type: Full-time, on-site

Position Summary

Davion is seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead and manage the company’s day-to-day human resources function. This position will serve as the primary point of responsibility for HR across the organization and will work closely with company leadership and department managers on recruiting, employee relations, payroll, benefits, compliance, performance management, and workforce administration.

This is an opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys working directly with employees and managers and building practical HR processes within a growing organization. The successful candidate should be comfortable both advising management and personally handling the day-to-day work required to keep the HR function organized and responsive.

Key Responsibilities

HR Management & Employee Relations

  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Provide guidance to managers regarding employee relations, performance, attendance, discipline, and workplace policies.
  • Coordinate employee documentation associated with coaching, corrective action, performance issues, and terminations.
  • Help ensure HR practices are applied consistently across departments and shifts.
  • Maintain and update employee handbook, policies, job descriptions, and related HR documentation.

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Coordinate recruiting for hourly, administrative, technical, and management positions.
  • Work with hiring managers to define staffing needs, job requirements, and appropriate compensation ranges.
  • Manage job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offers, background checks, and pre-employment requirements.
  • Develop and administer consistent onboarding and orientation processes.

Payroll, Benefits & HR Administration

  • Own or oversee the payroll process, including coordination of employee changes, timekeeping issues, deductions, and payroll-related inquiries.
  • Administer employee benefit programs and coordinate enrollment, changes, and employee questions.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS/payroll information.
  • Administer PTO, leave, attendance, and other employee programs.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation matters and related documentation.

Compliance

  • Maintain required employee records and documentation.
  • Support compliance with applicable federal and New Jersey employment requirements.
  • Coordinate required workplace postings, employee notices, training, and record keeping.
  • Work with outside employment counsel, benefits advisors, insurance brokers, payroll providers, and other specialists when appropriate.

Performance Management & Organizational Support

  • Develop and administer a practical performance management process.
  • Help managers establish clear job expectations and provide appropriate employee feedback.
  • Maintain organizational charts and current job descriptions.
  • Support compensation benchmarking and annual compensation planning.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes as the company continues to grow.
  • Coordinate employee and supervisor training where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably including experience serving as a primary HR resource for an organization or facility.
  • Experience supporting an hourly workforce in a manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or similar operating environment strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of federal and New Jersey employment practices and requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll, benefits administration, recruiting, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems. ADP experience would be particularly relevant given Davion's environment.
  • Strong judgment and ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee matters.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both frontline employees and senior management.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is beneficial but not required.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is practical, organized, approachable, and comfortable working independently. This role requires someone who can build appropriate structure without unnecessarily complicating processes and who is equally comfortable working with senior management, supervisors, and employees on the production floor.

This is a hands-on HR role. The successful candidate should enjoy personally managing the HR function rather than primarily delegating activities to a large HR staff.

  • Coordinate employee offboarding and exit procedures.
